1. Your Test Structure at a Glance

The Undergraduate Admission Test (IUAT) is a hybrid exam with a total duration of 160 minutes (2 hours and 40 minutes). It is divided into two distinct testing formats:

The Online Computer Sections

The Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical reasoning multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are taken entirely online at our campus computer laboratories.

The Paper-Based Essay Section

The thematic essay is completed on physical paper. This section assesses your synthesis, structures, grammar, and writing capability.

Test Section Topics Covered Format Questions Marks Time Allotted
Quantitative Reasoning General mathematics, focusing on essential arithmetic, basic algebraic equations, foundational geometry, basic statistics, and practical word problems. Online on Computer 25 MCQs 25 50 Minutes
Verbal Reasoning Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and English Grammar & Syntax. Online on Computer 25 MCQs 25 50 Minutes
Analytical Reasoning Logical thinking, pattern recognition, and analytical deduction. Online on Computer 10 MCQs 10 20 Minutes

Because the MCQ sections are managed by a central digital system, they are strictly timed. You cannot move on to the next section until the total time for your current section has fully elapsed.

2. Preparing Your Test-Day Checklist

To make your morning as smooth as possible, we recommend packing your test-day bag the night before. Please ensure you have the following items ready:

Admit Card

Print out your Admission Test Slip / Admit Card and read specific guidelines.

Alternative: Bring the official Application Confirmation Letter if Admit Card isn't received.
Original Identification

Your Original CNIC or B-Form (or any other valid, government-issued photo ID card).

Strictly no entry without physical, original ID.
Permanent Ballpoint Pen

A Blue or Black Ballpoint Pen to write your name, candidate roll number, and signature on your physical essay sheet.

Mandatory: Keeps your identification permanent and unalterable.
Writing Clipboard

A clean, rigid, and completely blank clipboard is necessary to provide a firm writing surface at your computer terminal.

Pencils & Eraser

At least two sharpened lead pencils, high-quality eraser, and a simple pencil sharpener to write and correct your essay.

Pouch & Water

Stationery tools must be in a transparent plastic pouch. Water bottle must be transparent (remove brand labels).

Workstation Note: You do not need to bring any computer hardware, keyboards, or mice. All online testing terminals are fully configured and provided on-site by the university.

3. What to Leave at Home

To ensure a fair and distraction-free testing environment for everyone, certain items are strictly forbidden inside the computer labs and testing halls.

All Electronic Devices

Mobile phones, smartwatches, fitness bands, wireless earbuds, headphones, or any other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Calculators & Study Materials

Calculators of any kind are strictly prohibited for Quantitative sections. Books, notebooks, revision notes, or blank sheets are not allowed.

Bags & Backpacks

Large backpacks, handbags, or opaque pencil cases must be left outside the examination buildings.

⚠️ Critical Disclaimer on Valuables & Custody

Please plan ahead! While we highly recommend leaving all valuables at home or with your parents/guardians, we understand this is not always possible.

To assist you, the university provides a temporary mobile phone collection counter at the registration desk where you can drop off your phone before entering the examination hall.

Important Liability Notice: This collection service is provided purely as a courtesy. Isra University and its staff will not assume any responsibility for the loss, theft, breakage, or damage of any mobile phone or valuable item deposited at this desk.

To avoid any risk or delay, we strongly advise leaving these expensive devices at home or safely locked in your vehicle.

If a candidate is found in possession of any prohibited item inside the examination hall—even if it is switched off—their test will be canceled immediately.

4. Your Test-Day Timeline

To ensure you have enough time to check in, deposit your phone, and settle down without feeling rushed, please follow this timeline on the morning of your exam:

Arrival at Campus
50 Minutes Before Test

Please report to the campus entrance gate at least 50 minutes before your scheduled test time. This will give you plenty of time to clear security, drop off your mobile phone at the registration desk collection counter, and locate your assigned computer lab.

Gate Closure
15 Minutes Before Test

The testing hall doors will close exactly 15 minutes before the exam starts.

System Lock: Once the session officially begins, the online system locks out new login attempts for security and timing integrity. Late arrivals cannot be logged in and will not be permitted to take the test.
Workstation Readiness
Upon Seating

Once you are seated at your assigned computer terminal, please verify that your screen, keyboard, and mouse are responsive. If you notice any technical issues, raise your hand immediately so our technical team can assist you before the test begins.

Information for Parents & Guardians
Waiting Zones

To maintain a completely quiet and focused environment around the computer labs, parents and guardians are kindly requested to wait in our designated campus seating zones (such as the campus cafeteria or green lawns) and will not be permitted to gather near the exam buildings.

5. Inside the Exam Hall (Taking Your Hybrid Test)

1. Your Test Structure at a Glance

The Undergraduate Admission Test (IUAT) is a paper-based exam with a total duration of 160 minutes (2 hours and 40 minutes). The exam is divided into two distinct testing formats:

The Multiple-Choice Sections

The Quantitative, Verbal, and Analytical reasoning multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are answered on a physical Optical Mark Reader (OMR) bubble sheet. These sections are strictly timed and must be completed sequentially as a room. You cannot work ahead or look back.

The Written Thematic Essay Section

The essay prompt is provided on a separate question sheet, and your response is written on a physical paper answer sheet.

Test Section Topics Covered Format Questions Marks Time Allotted
Quantitative Reasoning General mathematics, focusing on essential arithmetic, basic algebraic equations, foundational geometry, basic statistics, and practical word problems. Paper-Based OMR (Section 1) 25 MCQs 25 50 Minutes
Verbal Reasoning Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and English Grammar & Syntax. Paper-Based OMR (Section 2) 25 MCQs 25 50 Minutes
Analytical Reasoning Logical thinking, pattern recognition, and analytical deduction. Paper-Based OMR (Section 3) 10 MCQs 10 20 Minutes

Even though you receive the entire MCQ Question Booklet at once, you must only work on the section currently announced by the invigilator. All MCQ booklets and OMR sheets are collected at the 120-minute mark. You cannot work on the MCQ section once the time has expired, and you cannot start the essay early.

You must use a permanent pen to write your name, candidate number, and signature on your OMR sheet and essay answer sheet — and to fill in the OMR circles.

Mandatory: Ensures your identifying information and bubble answers are permanent.
Writing Clipboard

Since the entire exam is conducted on paper in lecture halls, a clipboard is necessary to provide a firm, flat writing surface. Bring a clean, rigid, and completely blank clipboard.

You must use a lead pencil to write your essay. Bring at least two sharpened pencils, a high-quality eraser, and a simple pencil sharpener so you can easily edit or correct your writing.

4. Your Test-Day Timeline (Arrival & Gates)

To ensure you have enough time to check in, deposit your phone, and settle down without feeling rushed, please follow this timeline on the morning of your exam:

Arrival at Campus
50 Minutes Before Test

Please report to the campus entrance gate at least 50 minutes before your scheduled test time. This will give you plenty of time to clear security, drop off your mobile phone, and locate your assigned exam hall.

5. Inside the Exam Hall (Taking Your Paper Test)

When the test officially starts, your invigilator will guide you through the process step-by-step. Here is exactly how your test session will unfold:

1
The Multiple-Choice Sections
120 Minutes Total — Section-Timed
  • OMR Filling Rules: You will receive a physical OMR Bubble Sheet. Use your blue or black ballpoint pen to fill the answer bubbles. Fill the circles completely. Do not use checkmarks, crosses, or light pencil shading, as the automated scanning machine will reject these papers.
  • Booklet Pacing Rules: You will receive one Question Booklet containing all 60 MCQs. However, you must only work on the active section announced by the invigilator:
    • Section 1 (Quantitative Reasoning): Minutes 0 to 50.
    • Section 2 (Verbal Reasoning): Minutes 50 to 100.
    • Section 3 (Analytical Reasoning): Minutes 100 to 120.
  • Strict Academic Integrity: Flipping ahead to Section 2 or 3 before they are announced, or turning back to Section 1 or 2 once those timers have expired, constitutes a cheating offense. Invigilators actively patrol the rows, and candidates caught out-of-section will have their tests cancelled silently at the end of the session.
2
The Written Thematic Essay
40 Minutes Total
  • The Collection & Transition: At Minute 120, the invigilators will collect all MCQ booklets and OMR sheets.
  • Receiving Your Essay Papers: Once collected, you will be handed two items: a physical Essay Answer Sheet and a separate, physical Essay Prompt Sheet containing the essay topic and question.
  • Securing Your Identification: Write your name, candidate roll number, and signature at the top of the Essay Answer Sheet using your blue or black ballpoint pen.
  • Writing Your Essay: Read the topic from the separate prompt sheet, and use your lead pencil to write your essay on your physical Answer Sheet.
  • Essay Length: Your essay should have a target length of 250 to 300 words.
